Researchers in Manchester in the UK have constructed a movie of the brain changing as an anaesthetic takes effect.

When I was in Year 9 at school, a notice appeared advising that the school was holding a History Essay Writing Competition, with a prize of $50. Despite not actually being enrolled in the history program (I had already been seduced by the sciences), I suspected that the enthusiasm for essay writing amongst my peers might be somewhat limited. I wondered if it might be a quick and easy way to earn 50 bucks.
