Tune-In-To-Teaching for GASACT Trainees
As trainees, we are often involved in teaching more junior trainees, residents, interns, or medical students, usually with little or no formal guidance on the topic and it's certainly not covered as part of our formal curriculum. As we get more senior in our training and as consultants supervision becomes an important part of our practice.
This workshop is designed for trainees and will involve small-group learning geared around preparation for supervising, teaching, and giving feedback to more junior trainees.
Trainees only.
Time: 1145-1315
Venue: TBA
ECHO 101 for GASACT Trainees
With a focus on practical application and the basics, this workshop is tailored to trainees and will provide a practical introduction to transthoracic echocardiography using live models and discuss how we can use this technology in every day practice. It is designed for people who have little or no experience with TTE.
Trans thoracic echocardiography (TTE) can give valuable information about cardiac function and performance. In the operative setting this may be extremely helpful in diagnosing complications and optimising patient physiology. With the increased availability of high performance portable ultrasound machines anaesthetists are in an excellent position to take advantage of this technology in the peri operative period. But where do I put the ECHO probe? The basic views and what the novice might be able to achieve in a limited study.
The workshop will involve 5 participants per facilitator and will be a hands on tutorial and demonstration of scanning techniques and anatomy. GASACT Trainees only.(will be reserved for trainees up until 31 July)
Time: 0900-1100
Venue: TBA
Date: Sunday
Time: 1430-1630
